Job Title: Manager of HR and Administration
Position Summary:
The OCAD Student Union (OCAD SU) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager of HR and Administration to oversee operations and ensure the effective delivery of services to OCAD students. This role involves managing HR functions, handling administrative tasks, and supporting corporate governance and board activities.
Essential Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources management and administrative functions, preferably in a non-profit or student union environment.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Proven experience in staff management, conflict resolution, and performance evaluations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility:
Human Resources & Staff Management (50%):
- Oversee hiring processes and staff management, including performance evaluations.
- Provide training and support to Executives and staff, and handle personnel issues.
- Manage workload distribution, office hours, and professional development opportunities.
- Draft and update job descriptions, postings, and contracts.
Operations and Administration (30%):
- Implement By-Laws, policies, and procedures in consultation with relevant staff.
- Develop and maintain an annual operations calendar.
- Ensure smooth execution of OCAD SU events, programs, and services.
- Handle petty cash, make office purchases, and coordinate logistical support for events.
Corporate Affairs, Governance & Board Support (20%):
- Collaborate on policy development and ensure legislative compliance.
- Advise the Board on governance practices and university issues.
- Coordinate administrative support for Board and General Membership meetings.
- Organize Board training and manage the Elections and By-Elections process.

As soon as possible
Hours of Work:
30 hours per week, flexible hours between 9:00am - 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. Primarily remote work with a transition to in-person as deemed safe.
Compensation and Benefits Package:
- $31.30 per hour
- 13 paid personal days per year
- 4 weeks’ vacation
- $1,500 annual professional development allotment

Supervisory and Working Relationships:
- Reports to the OCAD Student Union Board of Directors
- Board Liaison: Director of Operations
- Supervises part-time staff positions (TBD)
- Works closely with OCAD Student Union Executive Directors, Board of Directors, and other staff or contractors.
