Alicia Bunyan-Sampson is a registered social worker, independent filmmaker, writer, consultant, and internet kid. She has a diploma in Assaulted Women and Children’s Counselling and Advocacy from George Brown College and a Bachelor of Social Work and Sexuality Studies from York University. Alicia has over 10 years experience in counselling and advocacy for self identified women, children, trans and non-binary folk who have experienced or are experiencing gender based violence. She focuses her work on her identity as a black woman, trauma, ugliness, digital space and non-monogamy.

In her role as Advocate Alicia works with students at OCADU and supports the work of the SU Board of Directors, additionally, within the SU Alicia supports students, staff and executive projects and initiatives, ensuring all work is done through an equitable trauma informed lens. Some examples of things Alicia provides support on include: assisting students with interpersonal issues with professors, issues of discrimination and harassment, and submitting petitions or appeals. She also provides information about student rights, and advocates on behalf of students to ensure proper accommodations are being met.

Outside of her work in the office, Alicia spends her time doing digital education on non-monogamy and films the occasional childish tiktok. She is deeply committed to trauma-informed polyamory as well as highlighting the intersections of white supremacy and non-monogamy and is currently developing shared language to understand abuse in polyamory. Alicia is also very passionate about filmmaking, her work has been featured by broadcasting companies and at a variety of film festivals. Alicia may or may not be addicted to the Sims 4.
