Mehnaz Lamia (Mia) is a First Generation International Student from Bangladesh, who has been actively advocating for BIPOC , ELL and International students since she first came to Canada to study at OCADU in 2019. She is the current Executive Director of Academic Affairs at the OCAD Student Union and is re-running for the position at this year’s elections.
Mia believes her strong advocacy and passion towards her peers and the whole OCAD student body will help eliminate academic struggles which even she herself faces and will result in better resolutions. She plans on working hard towards the Undergraduate Studies Caucus, gauging student feedback through surveys and addressing concerns and planning for better outcomes. Mia is consistently committed to reduce barriers for students. In 2021, Mia was the elected Student Senator for her faculty of Liberal Arts and Science where she courageously brought up student concerns directly to the Senate board. Mia advocated for inclusivity and fairness for International Students.
